When you are creating something your print shop needs to print for you, your printer will need some very pertinent questions answered.
It will help the process if you have answers ready for them.
For example, your question is “how much do you charge for copies?” Before your printer can answer that question he needs to know several things:
- What size do you want the copies?
- Will they print in black or in color?
- Do they need to be on a special media? That is what are you going to do with them? Will they be a flyer you post on a bulletin board in a building? Will you be tacking them up on telephone poles or fences? Are you framing them? Of course, it sounds ridiculous, but these are important question
Our copier is limited by the copy board as to the size document we can copy. If you want a copy of a blueprint that is 24 inches tall and 48 inches wide, we are out of luck. Our copy board is limited to 13 by 19 inches. We will have to send you to a large format print shop for such a copy.
That size limitation also determines the largest size we can print for you. We do have a printer that will print 12 x 30 inches, but we need an electronic file to send to that one. We can’t make a copy.
So the question “how much will it cost” is not answerable without our having more information.
Stay tuned. There are other questions we’ll deal with in later posts.
